LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION

DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to teach participants the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond in aquatic emergencies. Certification will be issued to candidates who successfully complete requirements in The American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid course, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, all of which will be taught in this class. Course pre-requisites are as follows:

• Must be at least 15 years old by end of session
• Swim 300 yards continuously
• Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the start point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute and 40 seconds
• Tread water continuously for 2 minutes, using legs only.

FEES

$185.00 for members
$235.00 for non-members.

Attendance for all classes within a session is mandatory. Call the Aquatics Office at 454-4585 ext. 228 with any questions. Please register by filling out the form below. Payments must be made by cash or check within five days of registration.
