This course is designed
to teach participants the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond
in aquatic emergencies. Certification will be issued to candidates who
successfully complete requirements in The American Red Cross Lifeguard,
First Aid course, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer for Lifeguards,
all of which will be taught in this class.
Course pre-requisites:
1) must be at least 15 years old
2) swim 300 yards continuously utilizing both freestyle and breastroke swimming strokes
3) Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface
dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 lb object, return to the surface, swim 20
yards back to the start point with the object and exit the water without
using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
Attendance
to all class sessions during the course are mandatory.
